The huge developer studios Electronic Arts in Redwood City and Bandai Namco in Santa Clara call the Bay Area home and it is an epicenter of the video game industry. But things haven’t always been this way. The video game journey has been both interesting and tumultuous.

Nolan Bushnell, now an NFT contributor, is considered the godfather of gaming as he founded Atari, the company that set the benchmark for a large-scale gaming community. A pinnacle moment in San Francisco’s video game history was the BART’s (Bay Area Rapid Transport System’s) installation of the ‘Atari Arcade Theatre Kiosk’ in a station in December 1976.
